Consumers can now communicate better, reconnect with others in their lives and research products and services from numerous companies.  However, the Internet is not beneficial only for consumers.  Businesses can also harness the power of the online environment.  Small businesses, in particular, can find tremendous value with online marketing.  Of course, you’ll need to know what the best marketing options are for your small business.</p>
<p>The first rule is to set up a professional, dynamic, interactive website.  Do not be satisfied with a placeholder website, as your customers most certainly will not.  You need to ensure that your website is compelling, that it invites your customers to come inside, rather than stopping at your homepage.  “Bounce” visitors are not good for business – you need to encourage conversion from a visitor to a paying customer.</p>
<p>One of the best ways to do this is by using an opt-in mailing list on your website’s homepage.  What’s an opt-in list?  For consumers, it represents a way to stay informed about the goings on with your company.  Perhaps they want to know about new products or services when they come out.  Maybe they want to know about new initiatives your company is starting.  Regardless, an opt-in mailing list ensures that your customers are able to stay up to date on what’s happening with your company.</p>
<p>Of course, for your small business, an opt-in mailing list represents much more than this.  It is an open line of communication, directly to your customer’s inbox.  In addition, because it’s an opt-in list, you don’t have to worry about being labeled as a spammer – the customer actually signifies their willingness to receive this information through your online form.</p>
<p>In addition, an opt-in list provides you with a tremendous way to build a customer database.  You can ask for several different types of information through the signup form, including email address, phone number and physical mailing address.  Along with your customers’ names, this information provides you with the means to market directly to a targeted, interested market.  Of course, you can certainly imagine the power that this puts directly in your hands – gaining access to such, a list traditionally costs a considerable amount of money. <p>In today’s world, consumers are more and more likely to expect a company to have their own website.  In the eyes of a consumer, having a website is a measure of viability, of stability.  In short, if you do not own a website, then your customers might not take you quite as seriously as they would if you did.  Why is this? <p>To the eyes of a consumer, having a quality, professionally designed website is a measure of how successful your business is and how likely you are to remain in business. As consumers the world over can visit your company’s website, peruse your goods and services and make a purchase decision, this can be an invaluable tool for increasing your profitability and incurring growth. Of course, you’ll need to know what the best marketing options are for your small business.</p>
<p>The first rule is to set up a professional, dynamic, interactive website.  Do not be satisfied with a placeholder website, as your customers most certainly will not.  You need to ensure that your website is compelling, that it invites your customers to come inside, rather than stopping at your homepage.  “Bounce” visitors are not good for business – you need to encourage conversion from a visitor to a paying customer.</p>
<p>One of the best ways to do this is by using an opt-in mailing list on your website’s homepage.  What’s an opt-in list?  For consumers, it represents a way to stay informed about the goings on with your company.  Perhaps they want to know about new products or services when they come out.  Maybe they want to know about new initiatives your company is starting.  Regardless, an opt-in mailing list ensures that your customers are able to stay up to date on what’s happening with your company.</p>

Perhaps the cost of developing a website, maintaining that website and purchasing a domain name keep them from taking advantage of these powerful tools.  If you find yourself in this boat, it’s incredibly important that you jump ship.  Why do you need a website?</p>
<p>In today’s world, consumers are more and more likely to expect a company to have their own website.  In the eyes of a consumer, having a website is a measure of viability, of stability.  In short, if you do not own a website, then your customers might not take you quite as seriously as they would if you did.  Why is this?  What’s so important about having a website for your small business?</p>
<p>To the eyes of a consumer, having a quality, professionally designed website is a measure of how successful your business is and how likely you are to remain in business.  Small businesses without a website seem ephemeral – fleeting.  If you do not have a web presence, consumers are likely to think that you are not making enough money for one and are likely to suffer the consequences of that lack of income.</p>
<p>Another excellent reason to have a website for your company is that it provides you with numerous options for cost effective (or even free) marketing.  Simply having a website (optimized for SEO, of course) gives you a spot in search results for your targeted keywords, no matter where you might rank in the search results.  In addition, having a website provides your current and potential customers a means by which to measure your worth to their needs, without actually having to visit your store in person. </p>
<p>Finally, owning a website enables you to grow your business on a global scale, rather than simply in the local or regional market.  As consumers the world over can visit your company’s website, peruse your goods and services and make a purchase decision, this can be an invaluable tool for increasing your profitability and incurring growth.  In short, if you do not have a website, you need one.  If you opt not to develop this powerful tool, you could find that your company suffers considerably.</p>

Guerilla marketing is  an excellent way for business owners on a limited marketing budget to maximize their impact on their local and regional area.  What is guerilla marketing? You’ll find that this involves nontraditional marketing, based in the real world. </p>
<p>Flyers – How often have you come out of the grocery store, loaded up your vehicle with your purchases and then found a flyer on your windshield, under the wipe arm?  While chances are you might not have saved the ad, you most certainly did look to see what it was.  This is an excellent example of guerrilla marketing.  By putting out flyers at local venues, you are able to spread the word about what your company offers, for a very small amount of money and time.  In addition, you will find that this can result in a surprising number of new customers, particularly if you target several parking lots on different days.</p>
<p>Business Cards – How often do you think about your business cards?  Chances are they’re pretty utilitarian.  They probably have your company’s name, contact information, and logo and not much else.  However, you can find some very unique business card options on the market for very reasonable prices.  Leave these behind wherever you might stop – tack them to the local bulletin board, leave them on the table at restaurants and put them up front at your store. Social sites can takes some time out of your day, however, if you aren’t careful to keep yourself on a schedule and stick to it. The big five social networking sites can be instrumental to your popularity if they are linked properly and updated regularly, but this should take you no longer than one and a half hours each day.</p>
<p>Aside from these handy and free methods of online advertising, ones which have infinite potential by the way, there are partnerships that you can form with other small business owners. Almost like leaving your business cards with friends and on the counters of local restaurants and the like, asking for an advertisement swap with a fellow small business owner online can be beneficial for both of you without costing any money. As a trade off, you have begun to benefit from each others website traffic, saving clicks and keeping both of you active with the search engines. </p>
<p>Per click advertising is a very popular way of getting your small business off the ground in cyberspace, and there are a great many features that help you to manage and reduce costs where this type of practice is concerned. There are many avenues that you can approach with this type of sales tactic, but it is best to stick with the simplified versions of the process until you are familiar with where your money is going and how quickly. It isn’t hard to lose money at the onset of a per click advertising campaign, so be sure to set a budget that you can live with and stop in often to see what keywords and phrases are getting the most hits.</p>
